Breaking up at 6k,do coils go bad???

i had a similar prob. car would be fine under 5500rpm. as soon as you it 5500 it would break up no matter what the timing or air/fuel was. i put a bigstuff3 in and truck coils in and the prob went away. not saying it couldnt be the valve springs though

Is this a totally stock ignition system, or just stock coils? What plugs, what wires, and what management sytem? It seems that all the big boys are running some type of after market ignition, ie FAST xfi, or BS3.
I think the stock coils can handle big power but they just might need some help from the ECU. Something with a seperate driver for the ignition system.
