What is the problem here?

Default What is the problem here?

Recently I realized the car is acting weird, it would kind of surge when I go at a low RPM like 1200-1500. So I went out to test this, while doin 20mph I shift to 3rd gear where the rev is around 1000 RPM and then go full throatle. Untill it reaches to 2000 RPM it goes very hestitant, feels like somethings clogged and pulling me back. But after 2000 RPM (im still flooring it of course) it goes back to normal.

the car has 51800 miles on it and its 9 years old. I am pretty sure the fuel filter was never touched, so to change the fuel filter is the first thing I am going to do. I hope it is not a damn fuel pump issue what do you think? I hate to work on a car that I am about to sell

Well a fuel pump/filter issue would show itself at high RPM more likely than low...

I'd say its not Pump/filter related.

Not that changing the filter would be a bad thing at this point...

yeah I will change it tomorrow, its only $16 and a simple job. Wonder what it could be then, MAF perhaps? I changed the spark plugs along with the heads and cam 4k miles ago. This started happening a week ago and I realized the fuel cap wasn't locked tightly so I thought it was because of the pressure.

I hate my life!

BTW Ryan you got that thing up to 800hp, thats crazy! Last I remember you were around 600 and even that was amazing...

Changed the fuel filter and the problem remains as you guessed correctly... It's weird because there was no fuel coming out (purging) when I tried to let the pressure out from Schrader valve.

Tomorrow I will look at the HP Tuners and see if I can catch something from there.

No ideas?

dirty MAF? dirty throtle plate or body? how hi does it surge?

I am not sure if the right term is surge but it definetely goes hesitant at low RPMs like a car with a .110 lobed cam if you know what I mean. It just doesn't like below 2000 RPM

I will check those but I don't think they are dirty, car is always kept in garage and cleaned all up 4k miles ago with the head and cam swap

Check fuel pressure during those rpm ranges. A friend of mine is having similar issues and it turned out to be his Pump. Good luck with it.

it always turns out to be the pump and I hate it! I have that feeling, it is the pump again (its the first time on this car, but other cars had issues with pumps as well)

What do you think of walbro? Looks inexpensive...

ok the damn noob i am apologizing for wasting everybody's time... Spark plug cables came loose, some of them don't click so I was running on 6 cylinders I am buying new cables so I can make sure they never come out again! Any suggestions?
