Exclamation I need yalls help...

I know I not mean to do another mpg thread but I am at a lost.

About two months ago I installed my 228 cam and was getting 16-17mpg around town and some highway.

Although two or so weeks ago I dropped to 14.5mpg regardless of how or where I drove...I mean back roads and cruise control on highway did not change it.

I have replaced the air filter, fuel filter done at 95k currently 117k, plug and wires checked at cam install, maf cleaned, and injector cleaner put throw gas... did not help

So I replaced the front two o2, backs are tuned out and drove....

A friend w a snap on scanner scanned the car tring to help figure it out and it showed my front pass not reading right so I returned it and put one of the removed ones back.

Now we have not had a chance to scan car again but replaceing the one did not effect it...I still get 14.7mpg

What could it be?

Hey,

As a rule, if one has more than 5K miles on it, I always replace them as a set. If they are in good shape and you are driving for mileage, it really should be there. I know that's not a lot of help.

can't judge the condition by how they look though, and they will not have any effect on WOT, just cruise and normal driving. These sensors switch back and forth with fuel trimming to keep the car at a 14.6:1 AFR all of the time except first startup and WOT. They are literally the feedback needed for proper fueling. I'm not saying that this *IS* the problem, but it's the highest likelihood.

Did you check your tire pressure? I know it sounds stupid, but it's the simple things that get ya.
Also, jack it up and make sure none of the brakes are draggin.

not the best, but as long as they're not reading with wide swings between them youre okay there.

Try testing them hot.

coils on the injectors sound like theyre good.

Only thing left I can think of is possibly a stuck injector, easiest way to test this is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge, turn the key on to prime the system, and then turn it off, and see if it holds.

Or possibly vacuum leaks

I don't buy that the car runs great with a stuck injector though. It makes power and drives well; the fuel trimming is very tight. If an injector were hung you'd see the trimming for that bank go nuts. Vacuum leaks would show up too as the IAC attempted to compensate for the extra airflow.
