What octane gas?
87 octane is just asking for trouble.

I ran 89 and 91 for most of the time depending how much $$$ is left in my wallent.

except for a couple of Sinclair stations that have 93. That really sucks, I would buy 100 if there was a place to get it at the pump. It would really be a pain to have to go to RedRock to fill up all the time. Also, do you really get better performance out say a 93 octane than a 91 or is it just a personal preference?

91 explodes quicker (in milliseconds that is, compared to the 93) but takes lower temp to explode it.
93 is for less denotation in a high boost/compression engine, which means slower explosion but takes higher temp to explode it.
Denotation occurs when the fuel in the combustion chamber explodes AFTER the spark timing and after Top Dead Center.
Pre-igition occurs when the fuel explodes before the piston reaches Top Dead Center.
Top Dead Center = TDC and it means when the piston already reached the end of it's stroke in the chamber to crankshaft roation and it's just about to beign the downward stroke.
I just run the cheapest gas in all of the beater cars I don't care about for it's long term reliabity, just fill it and burn it.
I run the 87 in my lawn engines, I experimented with higher octane and saw no effect other than noticing the smell is different when using Cam2 100 octane fuel.
Even my SS exhaust fumes smells like superglue when using Cam2 100 octane (clear fuel)
I see no real point in using the Cam2 except the speedbikes often fill it up with that stuff, it's $5.95 a gal for that Cam2 100 octane
