WS6 with CNG - is it possible?
Hi there!
Is ist possible to equip a Trans Am WS6 with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) tank and injection system? If yes, who sells kits like this for a WS6? Can I get trouble if I want to upgrade later with a forced induction kit or other mods (to compensate the power loss, caused by the CNG)?
This question seems to be silly, but considering that I come from Germany and the fuel prices there are 3-4 times than they are here, it begins to make sense to look for alternatives (even more if you live close to CNG Station as I do).
Thank you in andvance!

You'd need injectors made to handle gaseous fuel
instead of liquid, I believe, to start with. The whole
fuel system would be replumbed anyway, so that's
maybe not the biggest deal in the whole scheme of
things. The PCM would need extensive programming
for the different ideal AFR, spark timing etc. that
CNG would need. On the plus side, you can probably
forget about pinging. On the minus side, propane
likes mid teens for a compression ratio and I vaguely
recall that CNG wants even more. Plus, CNG will
displace manifold air more, per molecule, leaving
less to burn fuel with. So you will be way down in
power I fully expect.
But, hey, it might still be better than diesel.
Only welfare recipients can be happy living in a
welfare state. Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is 1/2 of your paycheck, deducted.

I think it's possible to install a bi-fuel CNG kit without changing the engine management. A friend of mine has such a kit in his Ford and he can even switch between regular gasoline and CNG while he is driving.
I just wanted to know where to get one (if there is any) and how it might effect some mods like e.g. forced induction.
And about moving to the USA: I've thought about it(telling the truth, I'm right now living here for 6 months), but who will then carry the spirit of american muscle cars to the old world?
Thank you very much again!
