Default Custom Fuel Tank??

I am working on putting a 454 LSX in my 01 T/A.

The plan when its done, is to put as many miles on it as possible, I want to drive through 49 states, then when im bored over here, Im gonna ship it to europe.

anyways...

I was thinking it would be sweet to have like a 40 gallon tank, if that would be possible.

I know I have a VERY different view than most of this site. I love driving the **** out of my car. (Before the teardown... I put on 18,000mi in 3 months)

Longshot, but has anybody seen this? Or pondered the viability...

I figured I could build the tank into the T-top area...

Im just thinking about it now, but I would love to be able to run ~1000miles a tank. 20mpg 50gallons...

HaHaHa, why would you go to a 454 that will burn more gas. get you like a 370, more miles to the gallon. but yes you can buils a tank into the t-top area. but like Nasty said, when are you gonna get out an pee? Hope your not using a big gulp cup like the truck divers.

Never. I decided that peeing isn't necessary for survival

I can pee anywhere(side of the road), but I can't fill up anywhere.

companies like fuel safe will build custom fuel cells, they just need a diagram of the cell you want. They go over it on their site. measure the space you can make available, maybe build a cardboard template to mock it up and ensure it'll fit, then measure and send it somewhere, it's doable.

Thanks, but I do my own stuff, I dont want the fuel cell to be an exception.
Plus this is gonna be quite intricate. Im not sure Id trust it to an outside company.

from your other threads I didn't see a tig around so, cut out a pattern, cut some steel and MIG er up, pressure test when done. problem solved. not the safest route by any stretch of the imagination, but it should get the job done.
i would imagine if you got real creative (and you seem to be) you could get it done.

I'm sure that you would get a lot more responses after you started building it. seems to be how it works here.

first off hope i didnt offend you. that wasnt my intentions. I just looked at the point you wanted more mileage out of your car. So the answer to the question is yes build a bigger tank. there ya go.
