"End of the chain"??? As in the return line??
Pump to rail, rails tied together, out 1 end of a rail to the side port of the reg, out of the bottom of the reg to the return line that was originally at the rail.

Is that what you are asking????

no i know the order of the fuel system. what i am asking is the stock 03 truck rail mounted regulator is fixed at 58psi+- . i need to defeat it so i can turn my fuel pressure down to as low as low as 40psi. can't leave the line off. looks like you can gut the stock regulator. anybody?

You should be able to modify the regulator, but I never modifed one of the truck units.

does it have the little star style screw on the side of it?

if so you can turn it to change the pressure but I don't know how low you can take the pressure
