Exclamation Is it my fuel pressure regulator?

The car has been doing this few weeks back, when i first start the car it takes a few seconds to start and runs fine. but when i drive it for a bit then switch it off and leave it for like 30 mins it takes 2-3 times to start. what can cause this? am thinking its my fuel pressure regulator...could this hurt my performance and MPG too? if so what regulator should i get? factory or aftermarket? thanks

Have you tested fuel pressure?

I am also wondering a bit on pump vs regulator. there's a million threads on this and no solid answer.

when i prime my pump the first time, it goes up to about 15psi then drops
when i prime my pump the second time it goes to about 35 then drops
third time about 45 and it will start this time (usually)

while running however, it sits at a nice 55 psi. (which makes me think the pump is ok?)

But why the first time does it only get up to 15 or so? that's scary. Could it be my pump AND my regulator?

I have been wanting to buy a racetronix pump kit for a while now, so I'm not too worried about the pump. But what about the fuel pressure regulator? Is there better/worse ones to buy and if so where do I get one? Is it the same as a fuel pressure sensor from like auto zone or something?

ive seen pumps go out in less than a month if they're faulty. but yeah, using process of elimination in your case I would definitely suggest the regulator.
