Does this top fitting with the pump have to be used? I have a male fitting for the inlet that adapts to my filter that i would like to use. I also don't know what that fitting with holes in it is for. It seems to have springs inside.

Any help would be great!

thats the one way check valve, im not using mine either. if u dont use it then you wont have any pressure when the car is off. no biggie

I'm not using mine either. I just turn the key to prime the pump once or twice before i fire it and have had no problems so far.
