vette bypass filter/walbro 255 external pump/600 hp?

vette bypass filter/walbro 255 external pump/600 hp? I am running a walbro 255 external pump with a vette bypass/return filter on a stock ls1 in a 70 nova. I am installing a 408 with approx. 600fwhp. Just wondering if this setup will support the 600hp? I was thinking of running a aeromotive a1000 pump with this style of regulator/return. Has anyone tried this? It would save me a bunch of money if I can just use the filter as the regulator. Any info is appreciated.
