Car starts and revs jump to ~2k?

Car starts and revs jump to ~2k?

Ok, at idle it sits pretty well around 1k..

However, when I start it or come to a stop sometimes the revs stay up and then gently come back down and everything settles down..

On startup I get ~2-2.5k and then it slowly comes back down..

Any ideas?

well back when i was having battery issues, my car jumped to 2000 on startup and never went down......, until iput a new battey in. are you having anykind of battery issues at ALL?????

Hmmm.. The battery is weak - I.e. If I let the stereo play with the car off for ~30min I'm looking for a jump.

Might be the battery.

yea if i let the car sit for a few hrs, then try to start it, it would barely turn, the revs would jump..........go to walmart and get a neverstart for 80 bucks and get back to me

I just had the same thing happen on my 98 SS.
I replaced the battery and now it turns over fast but wont start.
I checked all fuses and everything is fine.
I can hear fuel pump turn on when i turn on ignition.
Any Ideas??
