Default 54lbs rail pressure??

Isn't the fuel pressure supposed to be 58lbs? What's the flow difference over 4lbs?

My gauge was reading 54lbs all afternoon yesterday, Just installed it.

Weird. I just installed a fuel pressure sender and it reads low to mid 60's until I get around 4psi and it starts to drop to 59-61psi until the second pump kicks on then it goes back up to 62-65psi.

Typically a good pump will make about 60-62psi at idle. It will drop back to 58 under load, which is normal.

If you have low idle pressure, you could have a bad gauge, a poorly installed pump (generic kits with rubber hoses often leak), or a problem with the pump you are using.

Does it hold pressure when the car is not running?
If not, you likely have an install issue.

What kind of gauge? I have a mechanical gauge on my regulator and an electric gauge with the sender a little further upstream...there's about a 4psi difference between the two at all times.

I am using a Autometer electric digital. Pressure is around 60. It will drop to 59 after a period of running. I don't have a hot wire kit installed yet.

I'm using an Autometer electric dial gauge. It sits at 54# constantly. And the sending unit is right at the rail crossover.

I've got a Racetronix 255 with the hotwire fix. And knowing the *** stick/hack that installed it, he MAY have fuked something up. I'll have to rip it apart this winter and see WTF is in there. If he installed a BBK against my consent, he'll get a brick thru his window. Trying to argue with him is pointless and he won't reimburse anyone.

Arent you supposed to set fuel pressure at 58psi without vacuum applied to it, mine always dropped to about 54 under vacuum

Correct....with the car idling. Then reconnect the vacuum reference. Done.

Sounds like a calibration variance issue. Personally, I'd trust (and do trust) the autometer electric gauge.
