Default #2 cylinder no fire

I'm sort of at a loss on my Dad's car. At first I had a small miss, then it it became more of a stumble.

I got a DTC of 1151 1153, 1154 all bank 2 O2.

I replaced the O2 and I cleaned the plugs.

I thought that was it.

On my test drive, I had a complete cylinder drop.

I water tested which cylinder wasn't firing. I got #2 no fire.

I pulled the plug smelled it, didn't smell fuel, replaced the wire and checked for spark.

Got spark. Still no fire.

No noise in the engine, no metal in oil. I pulled valve cover, all ok there.

So I've almost run out of ideas. I don't have a compression tester yet and I don't know how to check for injector firing. I thought about swapping another injector to see if the missfire moves. I did tap on it and still nothing.

Please let me know. I hate a car running on 7 cylinders.

Pull off #2 injector plug and test the pink wire for power with the key in on position. If ok use a test light across both terminals of the injector connector. The test light should blink while the engine is being cranked. This may require a buddys help to perform this test. If the light blinks you may have a dead or stuck injector.

Thanks for the tip! I just checked the pink wire and it was ok 12volts...I'll try the light thing tomorrow. I do have a multi tester if that helps. I don't know what the ohm setting should be to test the injector.

How did you test for spark? Have you tried a new spark plug? Spraying water at the header tube is and old school method of telling whether or not a cylinder is indeed producing power. I take it #2 did not evaporate water similar to say#s 4,6,8 A compression check is needed to rule out any mechanical issues that may be causing your problem.

Take off the plug and put it in the wire and try to start it.

never heard of that before..Not a really good test though. The best "old skool" test would be a vacuum gauge. that would confirm valve train or internal engine issue.

Yeah, water test is spray water on the header. If it vaporises on contact then cylinder is firing...well on this #2 the header gets wet and drips water. I can even grap the header. Now that, this is out of the way...

I pulled valve cover, no metal in oil, springs/rockers are good.

I'm leaning towards the injector. Going to put everything back together and test injector. I've already confirmed I got power to it.

see if you are getting a pulse to the injector
