Default Replace the fuel pump?

Ok i think my fuel pump is bad, car drives everything normal but with a gauge it tells me I have like 45psi of fuel with the car on position? when I crank it it goes up bearly to the minimum it should be?

Well anyways, I also think my sending unit is bad because my fuel gauge needle randomly goes to E, when im less than half a tank and it suddenly goes up to were it was before??

I was like the heck with this and wondering if I should just install an racetronix fuel pump? how hard is it to install ?? where is the best guide to to a trap door and to make it kinda like a door?

thanks

There's a nice sticky of the install on the "other" forum. Otherwise after you buy one you can get tutorials upon request from Racetronix. I bought one and haven't installed it yet, doesn't look too bad though. Getting the tank in and out looks like the hardest part, I refuse to cut up my car.

Why what? I don't know how long it will take but I assume quite a bit longer than an hour. Your supposed to clean the inside of the tank, let it dry etc. Other site is ls1.com.

I have the Racetronix pumps in stock as well as new level sensors if interested.

Personally I would allow about 2 hrs start to finish if you are dropping the tank.

Feel free to give me a call,.

I cut my Trap Door in 10 min's to replace my pump, had to go back in a couple of times and I used a GM pump. Let us know how many times you Drop the tank before you are finished. The inside of my tank was spotless. If you find Rust???? it's time for a New Tank!

Do the trap door mod, I've done a few and they are cake if you've got a steady hand and patience. I bought my Racetronix pump through TSP.

I have a plastic tank so don't think rust will be an issue. It's recommended by Racetronix when changing the pump to drain all fuel and throughly clean the tank. Now maby I could get by without doing that but I'd like to do it right the first time because yes, dropping the tank multiple times would suck *****. And that's the main reason I haven't done it yet and I might just wait and see If I can get by without it.

I realize some people don't have a problem cutting up their car and that's fine, your car do what you want. But for me that's just not an option, it's got 18k miles on it in showroom condition, i'm the original owner and like the idea of putting it back to completely stock condition one day if I feel like it.

I just looked inside a 94 z tank thats been sitting for 2 years and the tank was pretty dang clean. I don't consider cleaning mandatory by any means.

You know that and i know that but....... he is insistent about dropping the Tank. Sometimes ya just need to let people go thru their own pain. I was going to drop my tank until I got out the book and looked under the car. ha ha.

Dropped the tank in my 2002 Z28 and it took longer than any two hours. Have to let down the rear axle, remove the exhaust and a number of heat shields before you can even start on the tank. After I got it all back together I had one short sheet metal screw I could not find a home for

My buddy just had a small shop do his 2002. $800 for a new pump module and labor. Local Chevy dealer wanted $1,200! His has 115K miles on it and the pump was fine but the gauge quit.

Think I can do my 03 Mustang in two hours. It's easy.

Al 95 Z28 with a flap.

Again, my main concern is not cutting up on my car. I just quoted what Racetronix recommends about cleaning out the tank when replacing the pump. I realize if your careful, clean the top real good so nothing gets contaminated it probably wouldn't be an issue. But mine will be out anyway so why not clean it.

I know a trap door would save a ton of time but saving time isn't my concern....not cutting up my car is. Lots of guys do it this way on here for the same reason, don't know what the big deal is. I did my own H/C/I which is a lot more painful that any fuel pump swap.
