Default A-1000 in stock gas tank

I currently have a 98 steel gas tank with a sump on my 01 trans am, but I am unhappy with how close my sump is to the muffler and the fact that my gas gage does not work properly. I know that I can reprogram the ecu for the gage but I am really concerned with how close the muffler is to the tank. I'm worried about heat transfer from the muffler to the tank and fuel.

I am looking to possibly put my A-1000 in my stock plastic 01 trans am gas tank. My thoughts are that submerging the pump will help keep it cool. I also have their pump controller which will aid in the heat issue plus it will help with the pump noise.

I am wondering if anyone has tried this already. my concern is fuel pick up and how to filter it. I was going to try and use the stock fuel sender to mount it and leave some of the bucket to help control the sloshing. One concern is starving the pump in the stock bucket. I was thinking that maybe I could get one of the filters for the new stealth pumps (link below) that aeromotive is offering and use that on my pump

Or has anyone used the new universal in tank pumps from aeromotive. http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-pa...pump-assembly/

Has anyone installed one of these pumps in a 4th gen?
any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Purchase a Racetronix pump from one of the vendors who support these forums.
You will receive the correct direct replacement for Your application, plus the fuel gauge will work correctly.

No it will not work. The A 1000 doesn't have the jet pump that the 99+ 4 gen's require.

Not sure what you mean people put A-1000's on these cars all the time. plus I already have it on my car but with the sump on my steel gas tank and the pump externally mounted. So I know that the pump works and runs the car. I am trying to find out if any one has tried putting one of these pump's in the tank.

aeromotive A-1000 is submersible, I was looking for info on if anyone has tried to put one in a stock tank. I am not sure if it will fit or not, I ended up having to work the weekend so I still don't know if it will fit. I know that the stock tank is not very deep and was looking to find out if the pump will fit dimentionally.

Ollie8974 only uses OEM parts on his car haha. And LOL at supporting the sponsors. Aeromotive sponsors the entire Fueling section [FAIL]

Yes the aeromotive will fit, and is submersable.
Yes you can use one of the filters from the stealth kits. Obviously you will need to fabricate your own bracket to mount it into the tank. If you call Aeromotive and tell them what you are doing, they can help you out. They can tell you what the depth between the pickup and the bottom of the tank needs to be.

You should also build a small baffle to control slosh. I havent seen a 98 tank in a while, but I remember those having baffles from the factory. YOu might want to try it in the steel tank

you could always run dual Aeromotive 340's (same size as walbro) they are good for around 600hp each

Thanks for the info. I did talk to aeromotive a couple days before i posted this thread they really had no information on the 4th gen tanks. I was inquiring on buying one of the new stealth drop in like i posted before and he told me they had nothing for our cars.

I would reuse my 98 tank but i already put a sump on it and removed the plastic baffle from inside the tank to weld on the sump. Plus my main reason for wanting to put the plastic tank back in is due to clearance between the muffler and the sump on the 98 metal tank. I have less than 3/16" of clearance which is a little to close in my opinion. Im pretty sure that all i will be doing is putting excessive heat in the fuel system. I considered a heat sheild but dont think it will do much good.

As i said earlier i will keep you guys updated and i will try and document everything I do with pics and measurements if i can get it to work. Hopefully it will i think im going to have to buy one of their new pre filters that they offer. The depth of the tank I dont think will allow the pre filter i have now.

As of right now I am waiting on parts to arrive mainly the sending unit so i can start mocking it up.

I would use 2 of the 340's instead.
