Default Fuel pump trap door

i have done the fuel pump trap door before on my 94 z28, i will be doing this again on my 99 Camaro SS. Do i cut i the same place as my 94z28? or is the pump on the LS1 cars more forward or back? any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

^^ Way to help there bud.

On my 2001, the sending unit was located towards the back. The panel I made extended directly up to where the panel slopes down toward the rear of the car.

from what i've seen on here i think it might be the same. but i don't think it is as far back as you stated . when mine goes i'll be cutting and using a piano hinge on one side,to make it a trap door.

3 cuts, peel it back, do the business, fold it back into place, drill two holes, rivet two small pieces of metal (that will swivel for future access) and seal with some type of tape. You can use the factory indentions as cutting guides. Cut just to the inside of them. See here:

you guys rock! Thanks. Well I got my new pump in and well after some nice 4 letter words i fished my new wire hairness thru, no dropping the tank for me
