i have both pumps wired to the same 40a relay, they come on together vs tps trigger.
i changed to -10 when i went to 3 pumps mainly to switch to the nylon hose from stainless steel for weight oddly enough. i dont think it is really required, in fact my bulkhead fitting coming out of the tank is still -8 cuz i was feelin lazy.

I had Walbro issues as well. I put three of them in an 87 Turbo Regal, and they'd last anywhere from a few days to about 9 months. They steadily got louder until one day the car wouldn't run.
I finally put an OE Toyota Supra pump in the car (it's a Denso pump) and it has been flawless for about 5 years now. People bitch about the amp draw on the Supra pump, but the Racetronix hotwire kit for the Buick has been adequate for several years now.
I had the same problem in my 1991 Corvette. I put a Walbro in it, and it got louder and louder over the course of a month or so until it stranded me. I put a Supra pump in it, no problems. Again, I'm on the racetronix hotwire kit, so I'm not terribly concerned about the amp draw. The car makes about 550 RWHP on spray and I've no pump issues for 5 or 6 years now.
On your car, I don't know if multiple Supra pumps will fit in the tank (they are bigger than the Walbro's) but that's something I would consider if I were in your shoes.
