Injector Testing - Curiosity
For those that would like to know, I went to a third party for a quote on data testing. I would have thought it would have been around $1500 maybe $2000 total, but apparently there are costs and adders associated with this that I didn't know about. Asked for quote for testing 2 of each set of injectors I have. Lets just say that this won't be happening due to the cost unless I get some funding...lol. $3,9xx bucks for testing 2 sets of 2 injectors.

Anyone want to volunteer or donate to the cause for research and testing to verify what vendors are claiming and verify data?

Got it, I'm trying to involve a 3rd party that can do the tests. I know of ID and FIC, but I wanted a 3rd party to test each set with the data I was presented to come to a conclusion.

All this injector dead time stuff is only in the last 3-4 years or so.
Fuel injection cars both with factory ecu's and aftermarket ran perfectly fine before there was even an option to input any data relating to it.
So it does make you wonder just how important it actually is.

well specifically the dead time is not what I'm worried about, but I see what you are saying. The cc/pulse of fuel injected is what I see as one of the important things.
The real trick is per PCM/ECM/computer & OS & brand/manufacturer design, how exactly does it control the fuel and exactly how does each option/table for the injectors work together.
The very first step needs to be understanding how the injector performs and its characteristics. Understanding the very most basic workings of the fuel injector and then tying that into controlling it in an engine with the proper "data" for all to work is the trick. As at that point Table A might not affect anything and could be from and older design, but Table B on the other hand might be the only thing that matters, and the computer does its math internally from that table to get the rest of its data.
I'm wondering at this point if I should buy the Greg Banish DVD(s), if he goes in depth like that for specific manufacturers. Only issue is for each OS or computer this could change from year to year and they may have made revisions to better the design
