Default Mototrons Are Badass!!!

For those of you who have tried to help me with my POS Delphi 50# injectors, you know I have a ton of problems with them....couldnt get the car to idle right or anything and worked for two days with no success...

I sent them back and ordered the 60# mototrons and installed them today(40 mins) and took me 10 mins to make and load the program(all I changed was IFR Table)...

My values are starting at 8.98

Started the car up with wideband attached and the car ran freekin perfect! Its true what people are saying about these things...they are real easy to tune. And the sweet thing is, the car idles like stock!!! Unbelievable! Just need to do some LTRIM testing but it shouldnt require much time at all

I recommend anyone that needs 40+ injectors to just go ahead and get these if you can afford them...

Yes, very happy with them...

Although I have the wideband hooked up and I cannot get it to idle above 12.4 or so AFR...

Feels good when I get on it, but when I start off from a stop, it boggs(i guess cause its rich) and then goes...

I even got the starting IFR # as high as 10.xx and it still idles around 11.xx-12.xx

I did try to set the inj offset according to what I gathered when I was trying to tune the 50's. And what happened was that the car still ran rich(maybe slightly richer), but the throttle respose was awesome...

I am still very happy with them as the other injectors would not even let my car run for more than 10 seconds

With these inj, I know it is running rich bc of the wideband and autotap, but if I didnt have those two things, it would be hard to tell...

Not sure what to try next...any ideas?

this is my calculation

if you have a stock regulator use this flowrate

7.87 7.89 7.91 7.94 7.96 7.98 8.00 8.02 8.04 8.06 8.09 8.11 8.13 8.15 8.17 8.19 8.21

adjust the whole scale in percentages up or down to get -1 or so l trims for your specific combination, but the above is stock cid.

7.87 flat across for a referenced regulator with 60psi 0 vaccum.. adjust same as above if necessary.

not sure what the deal is whith your afr, are you definitely in closed loop?

Mine seem to idle great at 14.7 with only IFR tuning.

What are your LT and ST fuel trims at idle?

One thing I have noticed, everyone having good luck with these is runing a regulator at the rail (including me). I wonder if that has something to do with it.

It seems that two different people have had this rich idle condition.

My CAS regulator is up by the rail too, fuel pressure is about 63psi at idle........so we will see how they do

ok what regulator are you guys using? Let me know specifically what regulator you are running and how...i know nothing about regulators...
what do u mean at the rail? you mean replacing the factory one right? Its in between the rails right?

How do I tell if it is in closed loop or not?

When I turn the AC on, it slowly adjusts to 14.7...strange
I guess the ac is eating the fuel that is normally causing the rich condition?

Again, other than idle, it runs nice..

thanks for any help....

factory regulator is in the tank. the thing on the rail is a pulse damper.

i run abou 52 psi at idle i have a CAS or speed inc. regulator.

in edit there is a closed loop enable temp box. look at those numbers and track the temperature when you are logging.

I'm running the CAS regulator in the corner under the hood, its not directly off the rail, but its close......my fuel pressure at idle is 63psi.....still haven't tuned w/60's yet, will happen this week or next week all depending on how things go

Ordered the CAS, hopefully when I turn down the idle FP it will not run so rich...thats all I can think will help this situation without messing with the offsets...

I have a feeling you are hitting the pulse width clamp that the pcm enforces (it only lets it go so low). I think guys with a stock cam and really low fuel demands could hit this with 60# injectors.

Most of us with bigger cams have the idle air bumped up. Lower fuel pressure at idle would also help quite a bit. Harlan talked about it once and said you could put the car in PE at idle to get around it.

Hmmm, I wonder how they are going to react to my idle pressure of 63

you will want to drop it anyway i would think, thats a lot of fuel pressure to be adding your boost pressure on top of.. remember they are rated at 60# at 3 bar... running them at over 4 bar will obviously increase that flowrate and quite possibly cause idle issues.

again however these injectors are working fine on rice-etr's car with stock fuel pressure and regulator.. were going to have a look at his idle afr tonight though honestly it has never been a concern to me

how low can you take the FP with the CAS Regulator at idle?

So you can set the FP low at idle and part throttle and take it higher at WOT????

The new 60's have proven to be a great set of injectors. I would like to see what the RC engineering High Z 65# and 75 # will do in comparison. I'm hoping they will idle just as well.
