fuel pump help please

Default fuel pump help please

Installed walbro 255 pump, turned key on with fuel pressure gauge at rails. Showed 20 psi at first, cycled key a couple times pressure went to 60. fired up and let run briefly.

Put it all back together and now car won't fire, zero fuel pressure. I have checked the fuse, swapped relays around. Pulled pump and checked for power at the connector to the pump with the key on, nothing.

Thought maybe i'd pinched a wie putting the tank back in, so I checked continuity and all wires appear fine.

Any help trouble shooting this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had a similer problem with other cars with these fuel pumps. Sometimes you get a bad one, kind of like an alternator. I would take it out and hook it up to another power source, or run it in a bucket of fuel, so you dont burn it up. If you get another new one, check it, like stated above. Hope ths helps.

Ok, I called Nate at nasty performance and explained my prob. He informed me that power to the pump is supplied power only momentarily when the key is cycled on. That explains my no power to the connector as I would turn the key on and walk to the trunk and check for power.

I confirm that yes there is power to the pump and I go ahead and plug the pump in and cycle the key on and sure enough it runs. I then go ahead and reinstall the pump, key it on and wouldn't ya know fuel pressure. Car fires up pressure is 60psi alls good.

Well maybe not. Went back out a short time later key it on. No pressure.
no pump noise. WTF new pos fuel pump has got to be bad. Got a new one on the way.

The only good thing to come of this is I only pulled the tank once. Cut an access after that, pump is much easier to work on now.

Thanks for your time Nate that was a big help. I'd still be looking for the no power prob without the help.
