Default Choke down 62 psi 24 gpm pump?

I am planning a 5.3 swap into my Cherokee and intend to use a 97 Blazer fuel tank, pump and strainer. The pump is rated at 62 psi and 24 (edit: gph), but I also want to use a TBI system on the 360 until I make the 5.3 swap and it runs at 15 psi.

If I restrict the 62 psi to 15, will I burn up the pump?

You'll need a return style regulator to bypass the unused fuel back to the tank.

Russ, are you saying I need the bypass regulator in addition to the regulator built into the throttle body?

I don't know anything about a built in regulator, wasn't aware the TB's had one. It could work if it's a return-style. That would be one line from the tank, one line to the TB, and one line back to the tank for excess. A dead-head system will prolly burn your pump...

24 gallons per minute huh

If so, I'd like to get my hands on an electric pump like that.

Yes, the throttle body has a return after the regulator.

Blown06, gpm would be a typo, do you know if I can run the pump without burning it up?

I wouldn't think it'll burn the pump up as long as you are using a bypass regulator and just pumping the unused fuel back to the tank. A good sized return will be your friend.

I'd invest in a good high flow regulator too.

After thinking about it, reducing the system pressure will probably have the opposite effect on pump life. The pump will probably like it. Less stress and more flow on the pump at lower pressures.
