Default Big time fuel leak - Help !!!

I just installed Nasty Nates fuel rails and braided line kit. Starting the car and my daughter noticed the smell of fuel (I thought it was exhaust). Looking under the car it was just dripping down, enough to cover about a 6 ft circle.

Anyways the leak originates from the AN fitting which contains the compression fitting. From what I remember, I placed one end of the AN fitting on the metal fuel line, then slipped on the compression fitting and finally the top piece and tightened it down. In looking at it up close I can see it bubbling where the 2 connectors screw into each other.

Should I have used teflon paste, I used it on all the connections except that one.

Any ideas or suggestion would be greatly appreciated ?

Did you cut the stock flared end off the hard line?

I used liquid teflon on all my connections. Some still leaked and I just tightened them down further. Try teflon, tighten. See if that helps... Also when the connector is off, check the threads for nicks, notches or wear.

Didn't cut the flared end off Xssiv - wasn't sure I needed to since there was plenty of length for the compression fitting.

02blueFirehawk - that seems to have been the solution. For some reason the fitting came loose so I tightened the hell out of it. I checked and I did have ARP teflon on the threads, I added some addtl for peace of mind. Started the car and it had a little fuel sweat, atleast it wasn't dumping fuel this time. Tightened it some more and that seems to have cured the problem.

Had me freaked out though, the thing was leaking fuel like crazy -huge puddle under the car.

Thanks for responding guys....

you don't use teflon on AN or compression fittings. The seal on a AN is the flared seat and on a compression it is from the compressed ferrule to seat. The threads have nothing to do with the seal. If it needs teflon on the threads then something is wrong with the seated connection.

There should never be a flared end used with a compression fitting. How did you even get the ferrule over the flare?

I just got done wrestling with this all weekend. Becuase of the different materials used (billet, AN fittings, brass fittings and so on) it was necessary to use teflon on the fittings to get them to stop leaking. 57 psi is not an easy system to seal up.
