Default 0psi Fuel Pressure! EEEEK!

Running the Racetronix system from thunder racing on my TA with 42lb SVO injectors: Stage II 6.0L heads, TR224/227, D1SC@8psi or so.

Everything was installed about a week and a half ago. When it dyno'd it peaked at 6000rpms at 505rwhp when the fuel would dip. Idle at 60psi fuel pressure and WOT about 55psi, as it hit 6,000 it dipped to 48-49psi.

Installed my 12 bolt a few days ago, so I havnt been getting into luckily, so my Harlan shiftlight lights up while I am putting around, glance over and my fuel gauge dropped to 0psi and shot right back up. This occured a few times my way home Battery/volt gauge never dropped by the way.

So do I have a defective pump, should my fuel setup support more then 505rwhp? Suggestions Please!

This system will support upwards of 550RWHP w/o a FM FPR and over 600RWHP with a FM FPR.
If you have an electronic FP gauge then it could be faulty. If the FP drops to zero then the car should stutter and/or stall?

If you have an electronic FP guage, your wiring connection could also be iffy.

Definitely, you would feel it if you went to 0 pressure like that.

Also, anything below 53 PSI or so at WOT I'd be concerned about.

Also, you could be feeding it TOO much fuel via injector pulses. If you find it is too rich, where your FP drops, and you can reduce fuel, the pressure won't drop so much.

This will not cause the FP to drop to zero.

The Racetronix F98 system should have no problem supporting 500RWHP.

Good call on the electrical for the gauges...
Makes sense, when the shiftlight first gets power it lights up--and hear I was thinking I had a supersmart shiftlight that somehow sensed when fuel pressure dropped even though it has nothing to do with the fuel

Thanks for the idea on the pulserate Black LS1, I'll look into that
Racetronix, any ideas why I am getting low fuel pressure at WOT? By the way, what is an "FM FPR" and what does it cost?

Thanks again everyone

I was talking about the drop to approx 49 PSI.

When is the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

Replaced it when your system was installed.

This is very odd as we have many customers making much more RWHP than you and their FP does not drop as much? Usuallt this problem is related to the location of the FPR in the tank but not until the 550-600RWHP mark.

Perhaps the pump is having issues?
Did you check your tank for rust?
Did you rinse it out?
What color was the factory filter sock?

This was installed in a '99 with a '98 Sock, so rust is not an issue.

Rust can be and issue if the gas station you frequent has junk in their in-ground tanks esp. if the tanker just came around and stirred up all the sediment at the bottom.

Ah, I only go to Chevron's and a couple years ago California made all the gas stations replace their tanks--so I dont think that would be the problem, but I could take a look.

How much $ is that additional system you were talking about?
