Narrowing it down Engine 402ci, ls2 block, 500rwhp.
standard ls1 fuel rails
Bosch 42lb injectors (1500 mile old)
new ngk tr6 plugs and leads.
Standard in tank fuel regulator with 044 pump
O2 sensors turned off with mafless tune vcm software
1 7/8 headers into )( merge and twin 3 inch exhaust with spiral mufflers and had ceramic substrate cats which were 9 years old.
Was misfiring and popping sound thru exhaust with bits of black watery stuff spitting out.
Cats were rattling and appeared blocked.
Took the ceramic substrate cats off and yes, completely blocked.
Took spark plugs out, 1500 miles old, and end burnt and carbon build up. Fuel in holes.
Fitted new spark plugs, leads are 1500 miles old
Fitted new magnaflow 100 cell spun metal cats
Cats are glowing red when car is operating. Sounds fine and no popping, car has picked up power and not misfiring.
What could be the likely reason for cats glowing red so much ?
