Yes, socks are 60 to 80 micron pre-filters for the pump and then you just need a 10 micron after to protect the injectors. It is the standard rule that even the OEM follows because it's how they don't lose money, they do it right.
Every car I have ever owned (all EFI) have had a filter after the pump. My new truck is the first to not have a service interval because it is PWM pump that doesn't pump all 500HP of fuel the entire time, but it still has a filter protecting the injectors just in case a larger particle gets through the pump or the pump comes a part.
