fuel pump wiring problem

fuel pump wiring problem 2003 c5 z06
while i was putting the second motor in my car i messed something up and my fuel pump wasn't turning on ( I'm guessing i broke a ground) because i ended up making my own ground right off the fuel pump and everything worked fine ... now I finally just put my new motor in and everything went perfect .. i drove the car to work and back without any issues but once i got home i was clearing codes off the dash (while car was running) and right after i cleared a set of codes the car stalled out and didn't want to fire up .. i ended up putting my own power to the fuel pump and the car starts right up .. so my question is .. where or what did i mess up .. fuse is fine all i did before car shut off was clear codes

not that i know of .. i didn't really think clearing codes would damage anything .. i work at a dealership and one of the techs said you could do damage if you clear codes while the car is running

What codes did it have? Maybe it had a code dealing with the fuel pump and clearing is messed with the ecm? Ive had similar things like tht happin before. Car usually started back up and ran fine afterwards.
