Man file this one under newb but I am losing my mind here. I've got the fuel lines disconnected back to the hardlines. I'm relocating them with braided line while I swap my head gaskets. I plugged them with a vacuum cap saturday. My friend and I even had a quick exchange about whether the fuel would eat through the cap but amongst all the other things, it slipped my mind.
well it did. And the gas is pouring out. I managed to stop it by hooking up one of the new lines I bought and stuffing it up into the engine bay so it was higher than the gas tank. But I'm going to have to take it down below the car at some point. Short of draining the tank, how the heck do you stop the fuel to do work down here? I've replaced the fuel filter dozens if times and never had this issue.
my theory is that I forgot to take off the gas cap and pressure built up when it got warmer yesterday. Could that be it? Car is at my brothers so I shot him a message to go check but that just sounds too easy.. just open the cap and then drain what's sitting in the lines?

Yea I thought I did that. But I guess because of the pressure build up over the last couple days, it's pushing more through the lines. Last night it was leaking through the cap I put over it on Saturday. I popped the cap off to correct everything and it went garden hose on me. I just got off work and was still wearing my nice clothes. Man what a mess..
I'm hoping now that I've realized I forgot to open the gas cap, the pressure should subside and nothing more will be pushed along the lines.
