Default 2001 WS6. No spark out of Ideas!!

Hey guys. I have a 2001 Trans Am. Stock 50,000 mile car. Was driving fine yesterday and suddenly started spitting and sputtering and then died. Pulled codes and there were 12 codes ( I know right ). Codes were for all 8 coils and knock sensor codes. Which were just replaced with OEM units and I replaced the harness for them also. Car would at least turn over and start for a split second but now will not run at all. Car has fuel but no spark. There is power to the coils. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check all grounds, especially those on the back of the heads. You have power to the coils, but without a good ground it has nowhere to go.

Wiggled ground on drivers side head and it did start and burble for a second and died. So I ran a cable from the negative terminal to the ground on the back of the head and it didn’t make a difference

There is not a ground on the passenger head of my car. Just the drivers side and it is tight and clean of debris

No ground on the passenger side, driver side only. Another ground is located on the engine block next to the starter and the other ground is connected to the frame on the driver side and is a copper strap that comes of the engine harness near the alternator. Have you checked your fuses to see if any are blown?

Did you do something wrong with your installation of the coils and harness? Are you sure your have it wired correctly? Call me a dinosaur but what was wrong with the age old technology? It was simple, you gave it fuel, air and spark and it worked.

Gotcha. I will check those grounds next. And I checked all fuses and relays and they all appear to be good. I swapped some around with each other and with a different car and no luck. Also left battery disconnected for a day hoping the ECU would reset but that didn’t help either

Make sure the coil harness isn't backwards as in 1 and 7 aren't flipped over. Same for both banks

Its either something is not connected, something burned out and lost its connection or something is not grounded. Post up some pictures of the engine and the harness connections so we can see if anything jumps out. So hard to diagnose these types of issues without being at the car to investigate.

Grounds are all tight. Harness connections are all perfect and have never been removed. I’ve owned the car since it was new.

Codes were for all 8 coils and knock sensor codes. "Which were just replaced with OEM units and I replaced the harness for them also". Car would at least turn over and start for a split second but now will not run at all.

Who did the replacing? Was it just the knock sensors and harness that was replaced? To replace them requires disconnections and re-connections. Hard to tell what exactly the issue is when your not at the car and know what all has gone on.

They were replaced at a G.M. dealership last summer. Haven’t had any issues until now when the codes popped up again
