Fuel pressure regulator
So I'm trying to plan ahead on what would you folks suggest. I don't want to run an additional line from the fuel rail. I have a fuel pressure tester that attaches to the fuel rail. So could I add a adjustable fuel pressure regulator with return near the tank? Then adjust to provide 58 PSI at the rail? Any brand? Kind of set and forget?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Racetronix claims their FPR is just as good as the higher priced Aeromotive FPR. Some vendors claim their internal parts withstand E10 and E85 better than the competition. IMO it would be the quality of the diaphragm material that is important (deteriorate and pin hole). Some have rebuild kits.
By design the FPR will bleed down. Get used to key on - prime - then start.
I bought a Delco "Gold" FFR off a Corvette Forum member and my car ran real rich. I bought a fuel pressure tester and I plugged it into the fuel rail and it was at 75-78 PSI at idle. Not blaming the Corvette Forum member. The FFR was in a brand new AC Delco Gold carton and looked to be brand new.
I plugged in my "spare" Wix FFR and it was right at 57-58 PSI. That filter is over 5 years old and was brand new.
Just FYI per my fuel pressure gauge the C5 FFR does bleed down after you shut the engine off.
Thanks for the replies.
