So my 98 Wrangler with a LS6 swap has been bullet proof for over 15 years. But this winter as I was using it to plow my driveway and it smelled rich. No cats. Using my scanner I pulled code PO135, PO172 and PO175. Looked up the codes and it said bank 1 and 2 running rich? So I replaced the ox sensors last night. The old ox sensors were black carbon fowled. Drove it today about 10 miles around town. Scanned it again and the same 172 and 175 codes. Checked the fuel pressure at the rail thinking the FFR was shot but it was right on at 58 psi.
Pulled a couple spark plugs and the are black with just the tips of the ground strap gray. They are Champion 7983.Looks like .060 gap. Been in there for 15 years and 15K miles. Getting a new set
NGK TR55's tomorrow.
It starts and runs great but still smells rich.
Looking at the air cleaner. Its a K&N cone type. Looks a bit dark on the outside but it shows day light looking from the inside out.
Stock 2002 Camaro injectors. 28.8? Do injectors as they wear do they let more fuel in as the engine is running creating the rich condition?
Any thoughts would be welcome.
