Granatelli fuel pump problems????
Granatelli fuel pump problems???? Alright i am pulling my hair trying to figure this out!!!! I replaced my fuel pump with a Grantelli fuel pump from Summit $125 and ever since the install a few months later i began to have a problem........At about a have tank after about 1 hour of driving thru traffic my car stumbles and shuts off. It takes about 2-3 minutes and then it starts right up. I smell fuel when i try to restart it right after it shuts off. THen i wait a couple of minutes and it turns on. HUH? The problem will countinue unless i stop the car for awhile. This problem started after I installed the fuel pump. DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG, DID I HAVE TO MAKE SOME FABRICATION TO THE LITTLE PLASTIC HOLDER? Anyone witness this or heard of it?
Did you cut out the holes needed in the plastic surge tank that the pump sits in? You need to to properly feed a +99 set-up with an aftermarket pump...you loose the stock siphon and need the holes to feed the cannister/tank.
mighty mouse and slowhawk and others have posted pics of the install with the holes cut into the cannister. Racetronic recs the holes since you lose your stock siphon....a detailed search will give you the pics needed.
Here's a couple of pics of what mine looks like. I also cut a window in the side of the canister, kind of hard to see in the pics.
