Fuel System Cleaners

Can anyone tell me what the best fuel system cleaner by experience.

I hate to say it.....FORD brand fuel system cleaner. I will go sit in the corner and await my beating now.

I have always liked the BG products and had good results. When I can't hook up with BG stuff, I use Chevron Techroline.

Redline and Techron have worked best for me.

BMW used to sell Redline under a part number of theirs. They still might but I haven't checked in over a year.

Techron is the same stuff that is mixed into Chevrons pump gas.

Redline can be used on a constant basis as it is detergent based and not a solvent.

Techron can eat the interior coating off of some motorcycle tanks from my experience.

All are a scam / overpriced rebottled solvents.

Get a 5 gallon pale of virgin Xylene/Xylol from your local chemical supply house.
Put a 10-20% concentration in your tank.
It will work wonders. The octane rating of Xylene is apx. 116 so it makes a great additive for street use.

I had a Dirty fuel filter in my beater and was too lazy to replace it...I added a bottle of Techron and it cleaned it right up

Solvents are not meant to clean fuel filters. If the solvent dissolves the contaminants in the fuel filter they may deposit themselves in other places within the fuel system causing more serious problems. Always replace a dirty filter.
