Default Crappy gas

I only put BP (Ameco) in my car. I was running low and need some gas to get home and all there was on the road was Sunoco. So i stop to put $5 in just to get my to a BP and of coarse thanks to Sunoco's wonderful all in one pumps (why i dont go there in the first place) i noticed that the customer before me got 87. So when i got my 94, i know the 87 that was in the line came through. I have no taken the car passed 2000 rpm and am wait to fill the tank with some BP 93. Should i reset my computer to clear the low octane table just in case or should i be fine?

Every Sunoco that I've been to in NJ has a seperate pump for the 94, I think you'll be fine.

I put 91 and Im now worried by what you just described cause I know I might get 87 while pumping 91 because most all gas stations here use only one single pump. Question would mixing 87 with 91 cause lower performance? Why didn't you run your car past 2,000 rpms while this fill up?

My area carries 91 highest rating.

All the sunocos around me carry 94 thats what i put it my car so i dont think a little 87 in there would matter to much when putting 1/2 a tank or more of 94 in.

Good God guys, that tiny amount of 87 octane isn't going to damage your engine. The PCM will manage your spark curve just fine, may deprive you of a few HP but no big deal.

I tested this on my '01 powertrain just for kicks. I'd been running 93 octane from Sunoco (same shared delivery nozzle as described above) and EFILive always showed my Adaptive Spark number at 100%. Perfect. The PCM is happy, it's giving me 100% of my high-octane spark table.

After several tank fulls of 93, always seeing 100% Adaptive Spark, I filled up with 89 octane...didn't go all the way down to 87. Sure enough, by the time it was down to ~3/4 tank, the Adaptive Spark multiplier was down to 92%. Car felt fine, just as peppy as always, but evidently the PCM had seen enough knock that it walked down the spark exactly as designed.

You guys worry too much.

your talking about a part of a part of a part of a gallon in 87 mixed with 94 so what you got $5 in 93.6 octane I think you'll be ok lol

I agree that little bit of 87 mixed with the 94 is not going to cause any harm. By the way every single sunoco in somerset county has seperate pumps for the 94!
