Question Installing injectors w/o tuning?!?!

Is this safe to do? I just got some 60# injectors and would like to install them this weekend so I don't have to do it next weekend when I put in the Procharger. I will also be installing a new fuel pump as well. The injectors are flowmatched. I imagine it will be safe to install them, but just want to make sure. Thanks!

What injectors is your car tuned for? If it is anything other than 60#'ers, you will blow out excessive fuel and run the chance of washing down the motor. I could just see some 60's firing off on a stock program! You'd have to put a pail behind the tail pipes to catch the gas coming out.

You will have to reset your IFR-INJECTOR FLOW RATE table for that size of injector. If you plan on driving it you might have to scale them down even more to keep for going to rich and washing things out.

So I see you are finaly getting started on you install....Enjoy

Hmmm.... So how am I supposed to drive it to get it tuned if im going to wash down the motor? Can I do anything right now, without a tuning program, to make it run decent for awhile with the 60# injectors?

Yeah, those are more than twice what's in the car now...
The 60's flow around 65 at our fuel pressure.
The pcm will pull 20% or 25% out of the fuel, but it would have to be able to pull %50 or more to run right.
It will probably foul your plugs and o2 sensors out too...

If you could do the injector swap at the tuning place, maybe right before you pull it inside, that would be ideal.

If all else fails best bet would to have the car towed over to your tuner. Your asking for problems if you cant reset the IFR before driving. I know mine was pig rich, dripping wet from the tail pipes just moving it from one side of the garage to the other, and I am runnig 42#,s.

I would swap out the injectors at the very last point. So at least you can run it during the install after all the other items just to make sure they are correct. Like belt aligment, clearances and any leaks ect.

I guess I will just install them at the tuner, hopefully they will all work.
