Reason to go with aftermarket rails, is that you would otherwise have to find someone who could attach a -8 or -10 fitting to the stock rails... Which is a waste of time.
So the only thing wrong with the stock rails is the fitting?

I would go to a dual feed rail system...

Like this but for a lS1 not an Lt1.. Just remove the cross over and weld it up.. Weld AN fittings on both ends of each rail..

http://gmhightechperformance.com/tec..._snow_09_z.jpg

For you....

-10 AN feed -8 return...

I like the SX and the aeromotive systems..
I would consider a belt drive mechanical pump too.. Depending on your shopping skills (race trader, racing junk etc) it may be a good deal...

Althought at 800hp it probably is'nt "needed" on gasoline....

They have a 5 GPM model get that and just adjust pulley size to slow the pump down IMHO ethanol fuel it and belt feed it.

A new Magnafuel belt drive costs less ($250 less) than the electrical because they pretty much drive a mechanical pump section with a big electric motor.

www.Magnafuel.com

When I TT and alcohol fuel a LS1 I will run a belt drive mechanical pump... Probably by the same MFG as the vacuum pump I'll run so I can stack them on a single pulley..

On the DSM I took a OE cast AL rail and just tapped the inside of the rail for a -10 AN to NPT adapter and threaded them in and put a SX -10 reg direct to the end of the rail and -10 return line... -8 probably would have been ok on the return... for now....

I have been mostly running E85 85% ethanol but If I go to 98% at the track I may run dual fuel pumps and will need a -10 return line..

Mightymouse,

How does the fuel line connect to the fuel filter? Where do I get the fittings? Also what fitting connects the fuel line to the fuel rails?

the filter has -8an male ends, so for each end you need a -8 female to hose

for the rails, some have 1/2 npt and some 3/8npt i think so check yours, but you just get that size in male npt to a -8 hose end on the other... pick it in a bend or straight to get it around the car the way you need to.

I don't think a Racetronic pump and BAP will cover 800 rwhp will it??? I guess 700 rwhp MAX!

Yep. Its just a walbro upgrade in a f-bod fill can.

If you are going to do the suspension to hook up you probably need to sump your tank or run a small frount mounted surge tank.. Class rules permiting?

Basically feed the small front tank with the stock pump. put a carburator style aftermarket FPR or a holley float assembly on the a return line from the front tank and connect to the factory return line. Then feed your aeromotive, SX, Weldon or magnafuel from the front cell. Under accel the pump will be getting helped by G-forces as opposed to fighting them.. Return from the rails FPR to the front tank...

You wont lean out on launch with that setup...

His car is built right...

If both walbros are in the tank fill bucket you should be OK...

Most cars dont have them... The tank sump is the most fool proof drag system... Does'nt mean other systems cant work. Even cuttin 1.5~ 60's.

I gained so much margin for tuning error and peak power with 85% Ethanol fuel that it is now my favorite pump gas... You need a bigger fuel system so that is what I have on my mind...

mightmouse,

The speed inc. Race Fuel System 3 looks like your setup except that there are two fuel filters. It also doesn't mention a fuel pressure regulator. Do you think that $1240.00 is more or less expensive than if I pieced that whole system together myself. Thanks

I have a C5 with a Racetronics intake pump and BAP. How much rwhp do you guys think I could support if I added an external inline pump near the tank, went to a dual fed rail system w/ a boost referenced FPR, and used #8 line to feed this system? Would the sump tubing going from the intake pump to the external lines be a major restriction that would be a big limitation?

i am sure that the speed fuel kits are a great value, but surely you are paying extra for the convenience.

I like how you fit the twin 340's in the stock fuel bucket. I've not seen the inside of an F-body tank; I have a GTO. We are ALL struggling w/ fuel issues for these cars. Before I get too radical [>10 psi boost, for example...and heads/cam] I need to sort out the fuel arrangement.

MM, I went to your website...I didn't see a picture of the stock fuel bucket from the side. But your install seems quite clean. The GTO's have a LARGE plastic bucket. Here is a pic of the upper part of the bucket w/ a Walbro 255 installed:

Do F-bodies have the same basic setup, and you've just 'carved away' the plastic? What about the fuel level sender?

Here is a bottom of the bucket after it is drilled out to allow more flow:

Congrats on your creative solution. I would LOVE to do this same thing on the GOAT if [when?] I decide that it's time for heads/cam/forged bottom end.

BTW, I borrowed a couple of your pictures and used them in this thread:

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
