Default Fuel Line/Pump Lost Prime?

I have a problem that I hope someone on the forum can help me with. Last night I did a bone-headed thing and let my car run out of gas. Now that gas is added to the tank, the car won't start, I can hear the fuel pump running when I turn the key, but the engine isn't getting any fuel. I cracked open the fitting at the fuel rail with the pump running in hopes of bleeding out the air, but no dice. Any ideas? I'm desperate. I need to drive the car to Louisiana this afternoon to my job.

well if you haven't got it yet, keep energizing the fuel pump before you try to crank it and it will eventually fill up.

Turned out to be a fried pump. Replaced it and car runs fine now. Trick was finding a 255lph Walbro on short (no) notice.
