My old carbs had "downleg" boosters. Newer carbs offer a choice between downleg & annular boosters. It seems to me that the downleg boosters are a bit smaller and don't detract as much from the carbs CFM rating. Are there advantages to using "annular" boosters?

An annular booster will allow a much larger cfm carb to be used (along with it's better top end) on a engine that would most of the time want a smaller carb if it was using dog leg boosters...
The reason for this is because the Annular boosters have a much stronger signal than the dog leg booster (and better atomization of fuel) and will give much better low speed operation for a given size carb.
