i had a car that was missing on two cylinders, both on the same side rear.did all the usual checks -tests.after alot of horsing around i realized they were not getting fuel.i pulled rail to find it full of water on that one side blocking both rear injectors.cleaned the rail out and it ran fine.trust me water will not move through the injectors.maybe small amouts mixed with ethanol will, but not large amounts of plain water.

This is actually a GM service bulletin on 5.3 trucks. There is a slight downward angle of engine causing any water in the fuel rails to flow back to the rear cylinders causing them to loose fuel. If you take the rail off and blow it out with filtered air you should not have the problem again unless you are getting/have alot of water in your tank.

What makes you think that water cannot pass thru a fuel injector? It is a liquid and the nozzle holes are not so small that fuel can pass, but not water. The only problem with any water in a fuel system is that it could freeze in winter. But that is why we put methenol with water injection to keep it from freezing. It sounds like to me you either had ice in the rail or some crap that plugged it up.
