car will not start after pump installation

Default car will not start after pump installation

I recently installed an intank walbro 255 fuel pump and now my car will not start. At one point it started and idled for 5 to 10 seconds when I gave it a little throttle it shut down again. Even after I turn my ignition to power and it primes my manifold the pressure will not hold. Can anyone help me out?

The hose came off your pump.

Check and see if the feed line off of the fuel pump is on tight. When I installed my first walbro unit a few years ago the retaining ring on the nipple was pulled off when I yanked the rubber cover. I didn't realize this and the fuel line would slip off of the pump and lose pressure.

I checked all of that and everything seemed to be intact. the hose was tight at least I think it was tight. Do you guys think the check valve has anything to do with it or my fuel line may be clogged

Double check to make sure its tight! I tightned it down last time and in a few days it blew off again. Also check your fuel filter along with the fuel pump fuse.

Whats up B? I changed the fuel filter and I checked the fuse, its not blown. I can hear the pump working. someone told me if the nipple come off on the output side the check valve may come out. My nipple did pop off and I put it back on the white piece was still inside the tube so I didn't think the check valve fell out. Oh yeah I changed all my spark plug but the last aft 2 on the passenger side, they are still gapped at .60 and the others are at .35. will this cause it not to start? I was waiting to drive it to the shop where I had the right tools to change the last 2 spark plugs.

I did a little more troubleshooting last night and I ran a hose directly off of my sending unit, it seems like the pump is not pumping at a high psi rate. the fuel came out at a steady slow flow rate instead of shooting out. Could this mean I'm not getting full voltage back there. What else could cause the pump to operate so slow?

The nipple should look like that if the retainer ring fell off. The white thing you see in that picture is the check valve.



Im not so sure why your fuel pump is just trickling out instead of shooting. Check the voltage you're getting at the pump with a multimeter. Or.... maybe its just a bad pump?
