Walbro 255 vs Racetronix set up

Walbro 255 vs Racetronix set up I'll be purchasing an STS set up and for fuel i know i need a pump. Now the walbro comes with the kit but i've heard its somewhat of a tough install and the Racetronix is plug n play.... Can someone quickly describe to me how each of them install and work and some info of each? Thanks alot!

550 - 600 RWHP +/-. With an fuel rail mounted fuel pressure regulator with a return right around 650+ rwhp, then you can always add a BAP with the Racetronix harness for more HP support.

So the question is then is it worth the extra $100 for the easier better fit? Or can one easily modify the Walbro to fit? Asume mechanically inclined with the tools to do the job.

whats involved in mounting the racetronix and whats involved in mounting the walbro.. sorry for my newbiness once again, jsut want to see how much easier the racetronix is to install.... thanks

well, the walbro requires cutting the plastic fuel boat, in side the assembly, simple hack saw job, in fact the whole assembly should go in after tank in out in about 15 mins, the racetronic, would be about a 5 min install after tank is out. some disadvantages with the walbro, is you can't go below a 1/4 tank of gas, or you will risk burning up the pump, as for the race tronic, I am not sure ask around. with the STS, you definatley need a boostapump as well.

i did the walbro 255lph on my 98 ls1 fbody. It wasnt that bad. There is a bit of customization with the pump but not much. You have to round out the hole on the mount just a little bit so that the wider receiver end of the pump will fit but I just used a dremel to grind it rounder. The pump will not hang near as low as the stock pump so yes going a quarter left on your gas is risky but ive gotten it to where the pump had 2 gallons left and the car ran fine. The walbro is a great pump that will flow quite well with mods and as far as difficulty on the install, I give it a 5 out of 10. Anyone who has any questions on the pump just let me know. Also, let me know if anyone is interested about the trap door pump install because thats what I did and I have great recommendations and helpful sites as well.

The problem on the 99+ F cars is that you have to mod the factory fuel pump module if replacing the stock pump with a Walbro replacement. When doing so you loose the factory venturi system which keeps fuel in the fuel pump bucket no matter what the level of fuel is in the fuel tank, ie it keeps your pump submerged at all times. The Racetronix kit retains all of the factory fuel features, remember the Delphi engineers put it in there for a reason.

I've had problems with rubber fuel line hose in the tank in the past swelling and splitting, and getting gummy. We use braided line now on our installs. With the Racetronix kit and their oem type of tubing you don't have to worry about it. Bob

between that right there and the overheating, thats why i wont buy another walbro. exactly what mine did.

Trust me, for what the racetronix kit costs it is 100% complete and keeps the bucket assembly in tact. I just installed it and was very glad to have the wiring kit and pump assembly that was complete. If you go to their website it will explain the features and benefits of the bucket that GM put there. Also, if you add a BAP later the wiring is there to handle it.
