Loud fuel pump, need replaced?
Does this mean I just replace the fuel pump? Or are there other things I need to check first?
Thanks!

that gasoline is essential to keeping it cool...
If it is that noticable when you are at a stop and idling, yeah, I would say its on its last legs and needs replacing...

Second question.... do I get an aftermarket piece to prepare for future upgrades (car is mostly stock now), or run down to Autozone and get this pup fixed?

Walbro 255 lph for most applications with small mods...
With a little luck, you can find one easily for roughly $100...
I can most assure you, by going to the "stealership" you're gonna get reamed, and maybe AutoZone or Pepboys or Advance can be a gamble...
Only question I have for you my friend, is, WHOS GONNA PUT IT IN?
MUAHAHAHA!!!!

So, in the morning I start the car and no problem. Then it starts whining after about 30 seconds, but not as loud. About a half mile in the SES light comes on (I find out later that it is P0155 which is a O2 sensor that has had intermittent SES codes already).
When I leave work that afternoon, no whine (and there has been none since). I get into it, and no power problems. Its been days and there is no whine and no power lag. Although I have heard a couple small backfires when I let off the accel. which I am sure is related.
I have no way of measuring my fuel pressure and I plan on replacing the fuel pump anyway. My questions are:
1) Is it usual for the pump to make noise and then go away?
2) Since it made the loud noise, that probably means its dying, right?
3) Is the backfire likely related to fuel delivery issues?

I used the Granatelli kit, which has a Walbro 255 pump in it, and a few other goodies to help get it in.
