Default Fuel line...

Ok guys... getting ready to buy the parts for my fuel setup. I have read these threads where guys are describing their braided fuel line turning to goop inside after only a short time. What gives? Is there one line better than the other?

I have Russell -10 feed and -6 return with -8 to and from the rails, but it has not been on the car long enough to tell if that will happen.

On race gas there shouldn't be a problem, on pump gas it could, now with most (if not all) of the county running on a 10% ethanol blend.

Teflon lined SS Braided. The kind that you can assemble yourself is pretty expensive. If you plan out the lengths of your hose you can get custom crimped:

Here's a pic of onfire's hoses:

Last time I had my lines unhooked everything looked fine. I am just running -8 feed line from rear to front and its just some brand from a hydraulic shop where my shop had been buying line and fittings from for the last couple years. Never heard of a problem either.

I will have my fuel setup torn apart again here soon though so I will have to check up on this. I intend to run a -12 feed from the tank to the prefilter to the pump and then continue up with my -8. I am also swapping my a1000 for a magnafuel fuel pump from Nate.

It's getting to the point with all the fuel additives where it may be better to run most of the fuel system in aluminum line, just like we did 25 years ago. Bob

I like hardline a lot better myself, only problem with aluminum is you have to be very careful that it doesnt vibrate or get pulled by the enfine moving because if it flexes it will crack after a while.

Other then that its lighter the braided and pretty easy to work with. Stainless hardline would be my first choice but bending 1/2" stainless could be a problem

I have used regular braided line on oil, transmission and fuel lines for a lot of years and this line turning to 'goop' is a new one on me. Even ran it with straight methenol, how many hundreds of thousands of holley dual feed braided lines have been on cars for years on pump gas. First thing I would have done is send that piece of hose back to whoever manufactured it and let them expalin what happened.
