Question Walbro pump lasted 1500 miles

Anyone else have theirs crap out this damn early? I have no idea WTF happened to it. It was installed new with my 408 back in December and has only seen 6 months of intermittent, easy driving (as shown in that I only have 1500 miles on it and it has yet to see the track). Could it be the friggin ethanol in the gas now? I just realized I've been putting ethanol into my car at a gas station that didn't used to I just have no idea what killed it. I put new heads on recently and had it tuned. It was running great and on the way home I was in traffic and it just died. It was hard as hell to start back up and when it finally did start, the throttle was pretty much unresponsive. I cleared the PCM and let it sit overnight and it started running fine, but kept throwin P0300 misfire code. So, I kept clearing that code and it never seemed to die again. I took it back up to the shop today to get it retuned since I thought it may be in the tune and it started doing it again. We tested fuel pressure and it would start at around 60 and slowly fall. Then, the car would start running like absolute crap, IAC's would skyrocket, and it quickly fell to 20psi until the car died. We replaced the pump and now it seems to be running great. I drove all the way home and around town and it hasn't had a problem. However, it threw the P0300 misfire code again. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem/experience?

Forgot to mention, while the car was being tuned it was getting KR for no apparent reason so my tuner added some 104 race fuel to see if it went away. It didn't, but was just wondering if that could have played any role in this thing.

i'm having the exact same problem with my pump, have about a year on it right now. Seems to do worse when its really hot outside, I'll start driving it and everything will be fine then all of a sudden it will start loosing fuel pressure.

I'm trying out the racetronix fuel kit, lets hope this will last a little longer.

Exactly. The hotter it is, the worse it gets.

This is what i've been worried about lately: https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-injection/551200-walbro-fuel-pump-another-unit.html

I need a new pump but these threads keep popping up and they seem to be getting more and more frequent.

Negative, it was run low only once while tuning, that's it.

For some people it only takes 1 time to E to burn teh pumps. I bought my fuel system used here on teh forums and teh guy, Hellraiser, that had it before me burnt the pumps up with out runnin outta gas. It really is jsut a crap shoot. I have gotten close to empty many times and no problems. I would bet taht the one time u went close to E that u burnt the pump. Im sure this heat has something to do with it as well. GL man and stay the hell away from E!!

Well, it's never been to E. It's only been about halfway below 1/4 (so, 1/8) one time.

Racetronix uses a walbor pump too haha, so doesnt really matter what you do, i just went with it hoping that maybe the extra voltage would make it run better, cause it seemed i was running a little on the low side.

Well, I'm hoping this one works out. For now it's 70 psi at idle. I can certainly deal with that. But 20 psi at idle, not so much.

Got about 8000 miles on my Walbro pump, and still working as strong as ever. However I beleive the pump is cooled down by the fuel, therefore if you run the tank low you are shorting the life of your pump. I fill the tank up when it shows 1/4 on the guage.

Even so, it shouldn't die after being below 1/4 tank for one time. I'm not at all impressed with these things.
