Walbro Fuel Pump or another unit?
I thought this was basically the only "drop in" pump and it only needed a few minor mods to fit. I'm not aware of another pump. are the Walbro pumps still ok to use or will I need to pull it every few months and get it replaced like the rumors state?
I'm just looking for a reliable pump I won't have to worry about.

if one persons walbro fails. they post about it.
the other 2000 people that put in a walbro that month, dont have a problem, and dont post about it.
for example, i havent made a thread stating my walbro has worked perfectly for the last 22k.... but a couple people who have had a problem, have posted about theirs failing multiple times.....
see my point?
to be perfectly honest, 90% of the time, its the installers fault. i just dont bother posting that because i cant prove it, and it doesnt help anyway.
ive seen people put power to a new pump, when its not in fuel.. and they wonder why its fried, or doesnt pump as much as it should... well duuh. you partially melted the impeller.
ive seen people with crap visible in the bottom of their tank, install a new pump... ******* stupid.
ive seen LOTS of people either not use a sock, or improperly install the filter-sock.
ive seen people not connect the pump wires right.
ive seen people using splices that DONT belong in a submerged gasoline environment.
bottom line is, while its a simple job, some people just dont know, or dont think. and thats why 90% of pump failures, are the installers fault. they didnt mean to kick the key on without it in fuel.. they just wanted to check the wiring.. or whatever... they honestly dont know what they did. all they know is "it dont work".
thats just my take on the subject.
