Default Is this bad for the Walbro?

I was just reading about how some people have the Walbro installed with the bottom of the bucket cut out and the filter sock hanging out of it. However, mine was installed without cutting the bottom of the bucket and the filter sock just kinda sits at the bottom of the bucket and tucks up around the pump. Could this cause problems?

possibly. wouldn't worry about it though. if you mess up, collect your loss and spend another 100 for a new one.

Well, like many others mine took a crap after 1500 miles and I never let the tank get empty. So, I was wondering if anything done installing it this way would have such an effect. In no way will I buy another Walbro if this one fails. I'll spend $500 on a pump that'll work.

Did you get the Racetronix kit with the siphon? If not, how did the bucket fill with gas? That may be why it failed.

Huh? The walbro pump just fits down into the stock bucket which is then submerged in the tank. What siphon are you referring to?

Stock pu,p on 99+ cars has a siphon hose that attaches to the pump to refill the bucket.....unless you intalled a Racetronix pump that includes the siphon hose, you need to cut holes in the bucket to let the gas into the bucket. If not the bucket will empty and burn up the pump.

Hmmm, yea I don't have a siphon on this bad boy. Where is the siphon located/attached? All I have are the two hoses on top attached to the pump. Nothing goes down into the tank on the bottom. Just a fuel sock there.

Wait, is this siphon hose a reddish color? B/c there are two tubes in the top of my pump, is one of them the refill tube?

when i installed mine i just cut a large "window" in the side of the bucket so it gets fuel, and than cut a hole in the bottom and stuck the pump out of there and than attached the sock to it. you can see the sock in this pic.

I still don't know where to cut the bucket. Anywhere around the side will do?

same here, i just got done installing the racetronix "plug and play" setup... which it was far from... you don't have a bucket, but when it came to wiring, the unit i got from racetronix was missing two wires which i had to pull out of the old unit on the car and put on there unit... but no bucket here though so i think ur safe in that category
