Default E85+stock tune=lean codes?

I'm not sure which forum this is supposed to go to but I guess it applies to a few. I've been running mixed E85/93 octane the past 2-3 months with no issues or side effects. Well the past few days being pressed for time I just put E85 in straight without mixing it which I've done before without an issue. SES light came on and threw both banks running lean codes.

At what A/F ratio will the engine throw an SES light and should I be worried about this? I'd like some educated answers as I've recieved from here in the past. Mucho thanks.

what kind of vehcle do u have? E85 is supposed to run much richer than regular gas. like 9:1 range compared to 12:1 for gas.

E85 does in fact run leaner with a tune mean't for gasoline.

Stock tune on gas=a little rich. Stock tune on E85=a little lean. All I'm asking for is an exact value of what the E85 is bringing my A/F down to and if it is going to hurt my motor. Thanks for the input but you're preaching the obvious.

Plus E85 is only 70-80% as much energy as gasoline... so unless the E85 you have access to use 30% cheaper than gasoline, you're wasting your money even more so
So if you are running stock tune with E85 then when its commanding 14.6 AFR you are really getting 21.9:1 AFR, way way toooo lean. you need to put in 1.5times more fuel. If you change your injectors to 42's from stock it will be closer may not be perfect, but you wont need to change the stock tune. You will certainly be safer than what you are now.

Much thanks sir

21.9? thats the roughness dude. Do you recall at what point/A-F ratio the car will set off the SES light?

I'm not sure, but at a guess, I would think it would max out your fuel trims to 25%, (you require 50%), if it dosn't see the O2's switching then it knows its still too lean. I forgot to add the fuel trim factor earlier, with them maxed out you'll still be running 16.5 AFR. Not sure when the SES light will come on, but I would think it would come on due to no switcihng of the O2's.

I like the idea of running the 42's with the stock IFR table for a quick E-85 conversion, but I dont think the stock pump is up to the challenge at WOT...
