Default How do you cut Braided fuel line and put AN fittings on.

I tried to put the An fittings over the line that Nasty cut, and they will not go over the steel braiding. I recut it with a cut off wheel on my dremmil tool, and they are worse.

yea, i use electrical tape. some use duct. wrap it like 3 times, ( prolly once or twice with duct tape)cut with a cut off wheel on a grinder.or use your cut off wheel on your dremmel. if it starts to frey even a little, you are fuct. gotta do it again or it will never fit into the fitting. its a bitch to do, but it will go in.
a chop saw is the best tool to use but i didnt have one.

I followed these instructions: http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...20Assembly.pdf , using a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw to cut the braided hose.
It actually worked out great

The dremil did not work, frayed the **** out of it. I did tape it with electrical tape. I have access to a chop saw @ work. Just have to wait till tuesday. I have a friend who does a lot of it too. I may need to get his help.

I may look for that Koul Tool.

got a hand grinder? go get one of those thin 4 in. ( and get more than one, as you'll prolly **** it up.)diameter cut off wheels for it. it works great. go slow and straight. its best to clamp it down in a vise or some **** like that. be careful, use the grinder guard and glasses.
wrap tightly with electrical tape, 3-4 times. cut in the middle of that.
to fit into the fitting afterwords, u may have to unrap a layer or 2 of the tape. force that bitch in there. it wont work if there is any fray.

Best way to do it, you can use a light oil to lube it up to make things easier also. Thats how we do it on airplanes also but we pull the tape off.

Make sure the line is mounted in a vise also.

When you put the fitting on, star by putting it on the hose at an angle, then squeeze the end of the hose and stick it into the fitting so none of the braided steel gets hung up. Once it's in there, the red part is threaded and you twist it counter clockwise until you can see that the red fitting is as far on as it will go. Then thread the blue part in and use two open end wrenches to tighten it.

It's not as hard and complicated as people make it out to be. Take your time and do it right.

Also, -8 and -10 is so much more easier to work with than -6 and smaller.

for some reason 6 is about the worst size, I never had many problems with 4 an going on, all the lines Im doing for my car now 8 and 12 went right in, I use duct tape and my grinder with a disc or my chop saw if I have it out. get a set tool for in the vise so you can clamp the ends in, it will help you when you go to get the ends threaded on, getting the threads started is about the worst part, I normally use a T on the ends as a handle to give a little more leverage on straight ends.
