Which ones do our cars use, the threaded type?

Push-on locking gas caps require no turning to secure the cap on the filler neck - simply press to lock. This style fits the older cam-style filler necks.

Threaded locking caps are designed for vehicles with threaded filler necks.

Quick-on caps are designed for late model vehicles with the 1/8th or 1/4-turn features.

I bought this locking cap directly from the dealer for my 2000 T/A. It has the tether as you can see. Had it for 4 yrs now - never threw any codes.
Only problem is - I'll be damned if I can rmember the P/N - but at least you know there is one out ther available.

I got some make of cap on mine..and thought it broke so went to find another one. I found them in local canadian tire store.motorad brand something 14-4 part number .
Forget the numbers in front. Its perfect fit . It also said it fits other cars think newer grand prixs and said 99 to 2002 firebirds so 98 might be different. It was different from the cap I have on the car. There is no strap on them but not overly worried about that .
Its a good idea to have locking cap on these cars since they didn't make the fuel doors lockable.

A Stant locking gas cap was the first purchase I made for my 97. Never had a problem with it for 10 years, and I like the fact that nothing foreign has entered my tank. They are easy to break into, I am told, but it keeps the casual crook out of my tank.
