couldn't u use some kind of FPR (fuel pressure regulator) that would get you down to like 40psi instead of 60 and it would help? or will this only go so far

its not the box you use, its the injector, they are big and slow and move a bunch of fuel even when open for the shortest time possible ~2ms

keep turning down your fuel pressure until you can run at or over 2ms.. thats it. if you can't do it then you need to move back to a smaller injector w/ more pressure, or something fancy like staged injectors.

you can also have the injector open earlier or close later (offset) and spray the valves to lean the idle out, but you are not actually moving a smaller volume of fuel... just spraying it at the wrong time to get the pulsewidth up to a stable range @2ms

MM,

Isn't it possible to run an injector @ 1ms?

A lot of injectors have a minimum pulsewidth of 1.0 ms. I can run my 60# mototrons down into the 1.2 ms area before it starts to get really sloppy. If I had a low impedence injector driver it would be a bit nicer to control at the lower areas but you still have that physical minimum pulsewidth limitation to contend with.

yes, but large ones you may not get fuel out of certainly not precise repeatable amounts required for a stable idle

mototron 60s are my favorite injector, but just not enough fuel, and their 90's i think it was that i tried the car wouldnt even start.. i knew that up front but had to try them anyways.. i think they are for 16 volt systems or something...

boy i remember way back in the day when i got those funny looking black injectors in the mail from ws6rufus i think his name was on here... far as i know i was the first with a set installed and running on an ls.

If you have the software updates for the HPT you can now do real time tuning as well if you have a Tuner that has educated himself on what tables and how to use the updates. I am sure there is someone on LS! Tech that has all this information.I am also debating on 96# and versafueler on stock PCM or going all the way with BS3.

FWIW with my 96's/BS3 setup, i can get idle to run 14.7:1 - but any cruise rpm-closed throttle (high vacuum, low kpa) scenario makes the car run rich as hell, even with a '1' in the appropriate fueling cell. Maybe i missed something but I always understood big injectors to have a propensity to slobber...

same deal steve i would try lowering your base fuel pressure or extending the lower boundary of your map grid.

this worked well for me so far..96# versafueler
efilive:
on small pulse adjuster you can enter a MINUS number..-.3 to -.4 worked wonders
In the IFR table, at idle and cruise/high vacuum areas, i entered the injectors as 100#..not 96.

I just switch to 96's and a versafueller today.Ended up with fuel pressure at 45lbs -boost reference only and set injector scale to high 80's swing. Had it at 96 but it was pushing my VE table high so I just lowered the IFR which brought it in line.

Truck idles at 900rpm and A/F at 15-1 no problem. It was leaner at first but I had to richen it up. I see no problems.Did no changes at all with the injector pulse widths.Drives perfect just like the 60's did.

So could these be used for a daily driver? I've just heard too many tuners say they don't like the driver boxes-they either work or leave you stranded-anyone have anymore input on these?

Where do you get it, i've been trying to find out now for a few days where you get these injector converter boxes with no answer and just figured i'd do a search and found this thread.

I just ordered RC72's hi's but after the feedback I got I'm going to send them back and get a driver box and some injectors. I can get either the 86lb Seiman Deka's or the 86lb holley/msd's from Racetronix(therelocal so i can get them next day). Which ones should I get?

Kinda off topic but it seems you guys with 96lbs injectors are running low duty cycle. Why not try something a little smaller and turn up dc? Just curious.

NAST-TA what kinda gas millage do you get cruising with your setup? Or any of you with these 96lbs injectors

Good info though keep it up guys..
