You can eliminate it if you are getting a tune, they can remove the codes for it. It is an emissions device that allows the fuel tank pressure to escape back into the intake and reburn instead of escaping into the atmosphere. If you are running no cats and open exhaust what is the point of trapping the fuel tank gasses?? Global warming is already here anyway we might as well just finish the job.

I deleted all of the codes, and took off the solenoid and plugged the hole in the manifold. I just run a piece of rubber hose off of the hard line under my fuse boxes and right around to where my fog light is on the driver's side. I put a small filter on the end of the line, and was done with it.

I disconnected the line near the rear diff where the plastic line connected to the hard line. Then I removed the hard line, purge valve etc.
BTW could you send some of that global warming our way here in montana.

Hey guys. Couple questions... Did you leave the evap solenoid attached and just run a filter after that? Or did you go from the hardline right to a filter? Do you get really bad gas odors like that? Does your evap system do anything at this point?
Is that method basically the same as removing all the lines back to the tank, capping things off, and running a vented cap??
Of course the codes will need to be tuned out... But Im just worried about extra fuel smell, or any chance of gas coming out of that line due to the evap system being inoperative.
Thanks for any info!

The evap is just a line to vent the tank. You can leave it hang where ever you decide, I chose under the car near the rear. Another option is to plug it completely and find a vented gas cap. You must plug the whole in the throttle body for obvious reasons. You will get a ses until you delete the codes.

No solenoid for me, but it vents as I described. It has to vent somehow...you can't just plug it off. As for extra fuel smell venting it to the front, I've never noticed any. I don't think I would anyways though...I don't run cats.

Isn't there a line right on top of the gas tank that vents it? When ever I climb underneath my car and look up at the rear axle I see a vaccum looking line that isn't connected and I just assumed that's what it was. Is this correct?

good to know!!! i broke the little accordian lookin pipe and was freaking out about driving without it. now i know i dont need to worry time to get rid of the system entirely. i think ill do the PCV delete while im at it too and just run breathers.
